Treace Medical Concepts, developer of technology for surgical treatment of bunions and related midfoot deformities, said the first cases using its SuperBite compression screw system were successfully completed.

The SuperBite screws were engineered for advanced compression via a variable thread pitch and optimized headless design. Their self-drilling and countersinking features allow for rapid screw insertion, and a beveled head design with smoothed edges make them useful in both minimally invasive and open surgical approaches.

The compression screws are offered in diameters ranging from 2.5mm to 7mm to address a variety of foot & ankle surgical applications in the forefoot, midfoot, and hindfoot.

The first cases with the SuperBite screws were performed by Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS)’s Dr. Anne Holly Johnson and a member of Treace’s surgeon advisory board.

“My first cases with the SuperBite screws were very successful,” said Dr. Johnson. “I was impressed with the streamlined insertion and great compression. Compression screws are the most common fixation used in foot and ankle surgery, and I plan to use the SuperBite screws in many different fusion and osteotomy applications.”

Full market release is anticipated in Q3 2026. The SpeedXM midfoot fusion system is also expected to launch this year—Treace said the two products could increase its total addressable market by $300 million.

Earlier this year, the company chronicled the first successfully completed case with its Lapiplasty Lightning technology for bunion correction.
