Osteotec has inked an exclusive distribution agreement with icotec, a provider of non-metallic spinal implants for spine tumor therapy.

The collaboration, which became effective on May 8, expands Osteotec’s spine portfolio to Great Britain. It marks a crucial milestone in the company’s growth, supporting physicians with advanced solutions to support better outcomes.

Osteotec negotiated an exclusive distribution agreement with Highridge Medical to disseminate its spinal solutions in the UK in January 2025.

icotec is headquartered in Switzerland. The company develops radiolucent implants derived from its BlackArmor carbon/PEEK material to treat tumor diseases of the spine as well as other indications. The BlackArmor implants won U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance to treat de novo spinal infections in January 2025.

BlackArmor allows artifact-free CT/MRI images to accurately delineate critical structures and accelerate dose planning.

“This partnership with icotec represents a significant step forward in our commitment to supporting physicians with innovative spinal solutions,” said Dean Stockwell, Osteotec’s sales and marketing director. “icotec’s innovative approach to the treatment of spinal oncology aligns with our mission to improve surgical outcomes and patient care. By adding icotec’s BlackArmor implants to our growing spine portfolio, we are broadening the range of advanced tools available to physicians, enabling them to address the unique challenges associated with treating spinal tumors and other indications.”

“We are excited to partner with Osteotec, a company renowned for its deep-rooted connections within the spine community and its dedication to improving patient care,” said Kurt Zoller, chief marketing officer at icotec. “Through this collaboration, we aim to make our BlackArmor Ccarbon/PEEK implants more accessible to physicians across Great Britain, empowering them to deliver enhanced treatment options for patients with complex spinal conditions.”
