Bunions, biologics, and balloon kyphoplasty captured top honors this past week on the ODT website.

The favorite among cybervisitors was Voom Medical’s proprietary, minimally invasive Bunionplasty 360 Bunion Repair solution, whose approach permits bone realignment from all angles, all planes, and all dimensions at all times. The procedure offers surgeons a more refined approach, one that may be used in treating bunions of all sizes and severities, according to the company.

The magazine’s May/June feature on orthobiologics continued to perform well, edging out personnel news from Orthofix and word of a U.K. distribution partnership between Osteotec and Additive Surgical for the latter firm’s spinal implants. Under the agreement, Osteotec will exclusively distribute Additive Surgical’s spinal implant technologies in the United Kingdom.

Medtronic’s partnership with Merit Medical Systems drove significant site traffic as well. The two companies are teaming up to offer a unipedicular, steerable balloon catheter for treating vertebral compression fractures (VCF) in the United States. The agreement expands upon Medtronic and Merit’s current partnership, with Merit supplying Medtronic’s Kyphon Xpander Inflation Syringes used in balloon kyphoplasty procedures. Per the agreement, Medtronic will manage the sales, marketing, and distribution of the Kyphon KyphoFlex unipedicular balloon catheter and Merit will assume responsibility for manufacturing, quality and safety controls, regulatory activities, and life-cycle management.
