THINK Surgical Inc. has welcomed a new member to its C-Suite, hiring robotics commercialization and operations expert Chris Marrus as executive vice president.

As a senior member of THINK Surgical’s executive leadership team, Marrus will help President/CEO Stuart Simpson coordinate and strengthen all areas of the business, including key initiatives in financing, product development, and operational growth planning. His addition to the leadership team underscores THINK Surgical’s commitment to scaling its operations and further expanding the TMINI Miniature Robotic System’s market size. Marrus is expected to accelerate the company’s growing commercial momentum over the next 12-months through his past experience in building and scaling successful surgical robotic businesses.

“Having worked with Chris for many years at Stryker, I am confident that Chris’ commercial experience will enable him to accelerate growth in THINK Surgical’s indirect and direct businesses.” Simpson said. “In addition, Chris will take the lead on an ambitious growth initiative planned for 2026. This project will be transformative for the company and I am confident Chris can see this through to its full potential.”

Marrus has more than two decades of experience in the medtech and surgical robotics sector, having played instrumental roles in scaling high-growth companies. He previously served as area vice president at Intuitive Surgical, where he helped drive growth from a $1 billion to $10 billion valuation. He later joined Mako Surgical Corporation as senior vice president of Sales, contributing to its revenue growth to $100 million. After Mako Surgical Corporation was acquired by Stryker Corp., he continued with the combined organization, serving for more than six years as vice president of Robotic Sales and Service. Most recently he served as chief commercial officer at Synaptive Medical.

“I’m honored to join THINK Surgical to help accelerate its commercialization phase. The team has built something truly special, and I look forward to helping shape the next chapter of growth and innovation,” Marrus stated.

Privately-held THINK Surgical develops and markets open platform robotic systems that provide support for implant brands from multiple manufacturers. The Fremont, Calif.-based company actively collaborates with healthcare professionals worldwide to refine its orthopedic products to improve the lives of those suffering from advanced joint disease with precise, accurate, and intelligent technology.
