Total Joint Orthopedics (TJO) announced it has exceeded 50,000 total implants placed nationwide, including over 38,000 Klassic Knee implants.

Last year, 32% of TJO procedures were done in ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs). The company said this reflects ongoing surgeon adoption in environments where operational efficiency and procedural consistency are crucial.

TJO’s portfolio is built around an “Efficiency by Design” philosophy that prioritizes streamlined instrumentation, system consistency, and adaptability across hospital and ASC settings, without compromise in survivorship or functional outcomes.

The company’s Klassic Knee system boasts a universal femoral component, a design that removes the need for left and right implants. The symmetric architecture allows streamlined instrumentation to reduce sterilization and storage burden while supporting faster setup and turnover times in high-volume ASC environments.

Using the Klassic ONE single-tray system, up to 90% of primary total knee surgeries can be done with a single instrument tray. TJO said this provides estimated per-case cost savings of up to $1,350.

“Ambulatory surgery centers are now our fastest-growing primary TKA setting,” said Erin Hofmann, TJO’s CEO. “In those environments, efficiency is imperative. Systems that simplify workflow and reduce tray burden earn their place in the OR. Surgeons stay with solutions that make their teams’ jobs easier while maintaining excellent outcomes.”

In 2023, the company teamed up with Think Surgical to perform the first surgery using the Klassic knee with the TMINI miniature robotic system.
