Zimmer Biomet and OneStep, a U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-listed digital fall prevention and mobility platform, are collaborating with the aim of delivering the orthopedic industry’s most comprehensive set of mobility data to track recovery progress after joint replacement surgery.

The partnership will leverage OneStep’s gait and mobility analytics, which are captured on both iPhone and Android smartphones and integrate the data into Zimmer Biomet’s mymobility care management platform for orthopedic surgery patients. mymobility users have access to daily, objective insights throughout joint replacement, from surgical preparation through recovery.

The integration will provide remote gait and functional mobility assessment powered by OneStep’s tech, delivered through the mymobility app.

“This partnership represents a significant step forward in continuing to connect the dots between surgical innovation, patient engagement and functional outcomes,” said Robert Kraal, vice president and general manager of Connected Health at Zimmer Biomet. “By incorporating OneStep’s advanced analytics into mymobility, we can further personalize and strengthen our ability to measure what matters most—how patients move in their daily lives—while keeping data capture effortless for patients and low-burden for clinicians.”

Zimmer Biomet said the integration supports its connected care strategy, which links tech, data, and digital tools throughout the patient’s journey. OneStep’s mobility intelligence is powered by analysis of over a million gait cycles every day—by embedding the company’s solution, Zimmer Biomet can monitor recovery trends, quantify function, and support clinicians in tailoring rehabilitation programs.

mymobility offers a guided orthopedic patient experience, including education, surveys, check-ins, messaging, video-guided post-operative exercises, gait and mobility metrics, analytics and telehealth applications.

“Zimmer Biomet has set the standard for digital, connected orthopedic care, and our mobility intelligence is perfectly aligned to their vision,” said Tomer Shussman, CEO of OneStep. “Together, we’re transforming gait and mobility into a vital sign, empowering patients and providers with clinically meaningful data intended to improve outcomes.”

Last month, the company earned FDA clearance for an enhanced version of its ROSA knee system. ROSA Knee with OptimiZe personalizes the surgeon’s experience with customized intelligent surgical planning and new positioning, tracking, and alignment features to help ensure accuracy and reduce user variability.
