Arthrolense Names Oren Gelman as President, CEO

Arthrolense, a company aiming to redefine surgical guidance in joint replacement, has appointed Oren Gelman as president and chief executive officer (CEO). Co-founders Dr. David Backstein and Dr. Russ Nevins will continue in leadership roles, guiding clinical and strategic direction.

Gelman boasts over two decades of senior leadership experience in the medical device sector. He has previously held leadership positions at DePuy Synthes, Ethicon, and Stryker Orthopaedics.

“Arthrolense is addressing significant unmet needs in orthopedics—equipping surgeons with accurate, real-time insights through machine vision and machine learning that are designed to enhance decision-making, increase personalization, and improve surgeon and patient satisfaction,” said Gelman. “I am honored to be working with the talented team at Arthrolense and its visionary co-founders to lead the company at this inflection point, advancing its technology toward commercialization for the benefit of patients and surgeons alike.”

The company’s flagship 4DI visual guidance system was designed with patented camera technology and machine vision for real-time anatomy visualization. This was, surgeons can have accurate intraoperative visualization, mapping, and tracking.

By allowing dynamic joint anatomy assessment at the point of care, the system was engineered to boost surgical decision-making, reduce variability, and support better surgical outcomes. The 4DI system also incorporates capabilities to tackle high-priority clinical needs.

Arthrolense has also established a quality management system in line with global regulatory standards and is preparing for U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) submission. The company is expanding its patent portfolio, advancing commercialization planning, and exploring partnerships.
