ECA Medical announced it has shipped the first sterile, surgery-ready Revcon screw system instrument kits to Voom Medical Devices.

The instrument kits were developed in partnership with the Voom team, including the company’s founder and CEO, Dr. Neal Blitz, DPM. The Revcon instrument kit includes a tailored set of sterile-packed instruments for procedure prep and implant fixation, as well as a targeting guide to help with bony alignment and implant placement.

All of the items were developed to enhance Voom’s Bunionplasty 360 Repair procedure.

“It was a fast paced and hands on effort to create this single use, surgery ready instrument kit and precision targeting guide for the Voom Medical team,” said Lane Hale, president and CEO at ECA Medical. “It involved numerous design iterations and multiple surgical labs to dial in the optimum solution that can be adopted broadly across the marketplace for use by a wide range of surgeons and skill levels to achieve predictable outcomes for the patient.”

The Voom instrument sets were designed for use in the outpatient setting. They’re packaged in a double sterile barrier tray to ease shipment and handling, as well as boost procedure flow and operating turnover. The company said this allows up to two times more cases a day to be performed by one surgeon compared to traditional methods.

“This collaboration with ECA Medical represents a major leap forward in simplifying and optimizing minimally invasive bunion surgery (MIBS),” said Dr. Blitz. “By integrating a single-use, sterile-packed instrument kit with our precision targeting guide, we are streamlining the entire surgical process while enhancing accuracy and efficiency for surgeons. The result is a more predictable and reproducible approach to Bunionplasty 360 Repair, benefiting both surgeons and patients alike.”

Voom is the exclusive distributor of the Revcon screw system instrument kit and plans for first surgeries to start as early as April 2025.

“A bunion or hallux valgus is a bony bump that forms on the inside of the big toe joint,” said James Schultz, VP Sales and Marketing at ECA Medical. “It occurs when the big toe angles inward towards the other toes, causing pain, inflammation, and difficulty wearing shoes. Bunion surgery relieves pain and discomfort, corrects the bunion deformity, improves foot function and mobility, and prevents further progression of the bunion. Over 500,000 procedures are performed worldwide per year growing from $450 million market in 2024 to over $600 million by 2029.”
