This past month, Medtronic acquired Nano Surface Tech assets from Nanovis. Medtronic plans to use this technology to develop its next-generation PEEK interbody fusion devices. Globus Medical also announced that it will acquire Nevro Corp. This will expand Globus’s presence in the musculoskeletal market and allow the company to expand treatment options.

In February, the FDA approved multiple new devices, most notably, OrhtoNovis’ BPS Wrist facture system and Gyder Surgical’s GYDER Hip System.

The BPS wirst fractire system is a line of locking wrist plates indicated for the fixation of simple and complex intra-articular and extra-articular fractures and osteotomies of the distal radius. The GYDER Hip System is touted as the world’s first commercially available non-invasive (pinless), image-less solution for accurate acetabular cup positioning during anterior hip arthroplasty.
