Implanet announced that next week it will share its North American Spine Society (NASS) booth #2412 with 8i Robotics, pioneering development of a multi-arm robotic system for spine and orthopedic surgery. Implanet will also feature its range of spinal implants and Olea, its ultrasonic osteotome technology.

Olea ultrasonic scalpel technology lets surgeons perform safer, more controlled bone removal, according to Implanet. It spares soft tissue and neural structures, as well.

The device features longitudinal, non-rotating micro-vibration frequency with the aim of efficient and precise cutting while reducing harmful noise pollution. Its blade is also cooled via a built-in irrigation system.

The device is low noise and emits heart in its titanium handpiece. It’s available in a range of lengths to suit applications in addition to spine surgery—Olea was designed to also be used for effective, precise cutting, drilling and grinding in neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, joint surgery, and endoscopic surgery.

In the innovations-themed exhibit booth, 8i Robotics will demonstrate a first-of-its-kind multi-arm surgical robot technology. The company said the system builds on the latest developments in robotics, surgical navigation, and optical imaging technologies to offer a modular platform for precision surgery.

“We’re extremely excited to introduce the surgeon community at NASS to Olea as well as the complete Implanet portfolio while sharing the booth with our friends and colleagues at 8i Robotics,” said Max Painter, VP and GM of Implanet America. “It’s rewarding to be able to have two innovative companies sharing groundbreaking technology side by side, and an honor to be collaborating with Dr. Victor Yang and his team. It will be extremely gratifying to present our game-changing surgical solutions to our surgeon partners in Chicago.”
