News of new beginnings drove ODT site traffic in the first week of 2024.

Enovis topped the pageview pyramid by closing its €800 million deal for LimaCorporate, a privately-held global company offering implant solutions designed to restore motion. The deal merging the two orthopedic giants was first revealed in late September.

Two partnerships were of interest to cybervisitors this past week—one for enhancing pediatric device development and the other for bolstering robotic spinal surgery technology. The former was spearheaded by OrthoPediatrics Corp., which has formed a strategic partnership with Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C., under the Alliance for Pediatric Device Innovation (APDI). The company will serve as APDI’s strategic advisor and role model for device innovators whose primary focus is children.

Spine Wave and eCential Robotics also captured readers’ interest by partnering on robotic spine surgery technology and solutions. Integrating the eCential Robotics open surgical platform with Spine Wave’s thoracolumbar fixation products, including the Salvo 5.5/6.0mm Spine System in open and MIS configurations, is an initial collaboration objective. Other leading Spine Wave products will be considered for integration as the collaboration progresses.

Other traffic-driving news this past week included the debut of Evonik’s carbon-fiber reinforced PEEK filament (which can be processed in common extrusion-based 3D printing tehnologies like fused filament fabrication), and the end of Life Spine’s legal dispute with Aegis Spine. The parties agreed to an order issued by the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Illinois permanently barring the sale of Aegis’ AccelFIX-XT line of devices in the United States.
