Website traffic drivers this past week were rather predictable, as three of the top 10 orthopedic implant companies generated headlines within a four-day span.

Garnering the most page views was DePuy Synthes’ purchase of Crossroads Extremity Systems, a deal that bolsters the larger firm’s elective foot and ankle offerings. The acquisition adds to DePuy Synthes’ portfolio the miniBunion 3D, dynaBunion 4D, and DynaForce Staple Compression Plates as well as CrossRoads’ EcoSMART instrument service, which provides sterilized, reusable instruments and post-surgical instrument recover and processing. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Zimmer Biomet attracted website visitors by sharing financial details of its ZimVie spinoff. Zimmer Biomet’s Board of Directors declared an 80.3 percent pro rata dividend of outstanding ZimVie Inc. stock to shareholders, but agreed to sell ZimVie fractional common stock shares in open market.

Össur attracted visitors with its rollout of the POWER KNEE, which the company claims is the world’s first actively powered microprocessor prosthetic knee for above-the-knee amputees or people with limb differences. The motor-powered smart prosthesis uses advanced algorithms to detect movement patterns, learning and adjusting to the wearer’s speed and cadence in real-time. Active powered assistance provides motion and the technology distinguishes the surface topography on which its wearer walks.

Other traffic-generating stories this past week included the debut of Formus Labs’ orthopedic surgery planning solution (along with its $5 million in funding), and the FDA 510(k) clearance of Carestream Health’s Smart Noise Cancellation technology, which allows users to reduce dose without losing image quality.
